JOB SUMMARY:

The computed tomography (CT) Technologist performs quality CT procedures to ensure accurate and appropriate imaging information for use in diagnosis and treatment, under the supervision of a qualified radiologist.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Prepare room, equipment, contrast media, and supplies necessary for each procedure.

Provide explanation of procedures and assumes care of the physical and psychological needs of the patient while in radiology.

Obtain clinical information and indication for all diagnostic and CT scans. Document appropriate patient history/clinical data as indicated into EHR.

Start IVs and/or administering contrast agents as needed and perform quality CT exams to acquire appropriate images and accurate diagnostic information for interpretation by the supervising radiologist.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of radiology best practices and requirements e.g., OSHA, CMS, and Joint Commission.

Knowledge of healthcare supplies, logistics, and storage guidelines.

Knowledge of HIPAA and other related privacy rules.

Skill in problem-solving and analyzing issues in an efficient, methodical manner.

Skill in communicating in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.

Skill in managing multiple priorities and delegating as needed.

Ability to translate general administrative guidelines into specific action.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to build relationships and display a professional demeanor.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Associate Degree in Radiology, or a related field, required. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Computed Tomography (CT) required. Current certification in radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R) and current certification in computed tomography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT, CT) required. State of Nebraska Medical Radiographer License and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.

Two (2) years of experience in vena puncture preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• This role operates in a healthcare setting.

• Must be able to:

Stand 55% or longer of an 8-hour workday.

Walk 35% of an 8-hour workday.

Sit 10% of an 8-hour workday.

Lift up to 50 pounds.

• Requires employee to: Bend, squat, kneel and reach above shoulder level occasionally.

• Requires repetitive use of hands for: Simple grasping, fine manipulation, computer use

• Requires all sensory skills (speech, vision, smell, touch, and hearing) corrected to near normal range.
